11 March 2011 – Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami struck Tohoku.
Objective: Lift the spirit of Japan’s earthquake victims.
Challenge: In addition to the destruction of property and loss of their loved ones, the victims are suffering severe emotional hardship.
While funds are being set up for donations, the public can do little else to offer help.
Idea: Empower the public with the ability to make a difference (besides donating) by allowing them to give their voice of support
directly to the victims in Japan. A site is being launched where people can post their message of hopes. These uplifting messages
are translated into Japanese.
March 2011 – www.asiaforjapan.com launched.
March 2011 – Facebook page launched.
April 2011 – TV Public Service Announcement aired via complimentary airtime on BBC, CNN, Channel News Asia, Nat Geo and more.
Results:
A} Thousands of messages were posted on www.asiaforjapan.com
B} Over 1,500 Facebook users joined the cause.
C} Highest website viewership comes from Japan,
indicating successful reach.

{ as i descend from over 1,200 metres above sea level, several hikers caught my attention because they were the only ones travelling on foot at the highest point of malaysia accessible by car – cameron highlands. then it hit me.
i’ve finally made contact with real malaysians… they were not chinese, indians nor malays, but natives who live deep within the hills and forests of malaysia. adapting, they choose road over terrain and are somewhat fond of adidas }

{ life floats on in tonlé sap, southeast asia’s largest lake }
{ it drizzled. we got on our boat and tried to make a dash back to land, in hopes of catching banteay srei before dusk. but our propeller had suddenly caught onto a piece of rug, rendering us helpless in the midst of southeast asia’s largest lake. when the propeller was finally freed, the engine failed to start. the rain grew intense as fierce winds swept us across in all directions. the locals scrambled for shelter. that’s when i strangely began to feel one with the foreign surroundings and its people, as if somewhat connected by the familiar rain }
{ the khmer classical dance and its costume have not plagiarised its thai counterpart’s. in fact, it’s the other way round. in the late 15th century, the ancient thai kingdom of ayutthaya had sacked angkor, seizing its artisans and dancers, only to later ironically return the stolen art form to its rightful owner – cambodia }
